case study challenge 59

I can't believe that at CASE study this is our last week with Julie Lacey as our muse :( Love, love, love Julie's style. Look at the inspiration card for this week.

Gorgeous rich blue mixed with dark blue, kraft and neutrals, a fabulous impression plate, panel and ribbon. Here's my take.

Supplies: Stamps - Papertrey Ink happy trails; Ink - Versafine onyx black; Card - Stampin' Up night of navy, crumb cake; Twine - Stampin' Up; Ribbon - Papertrey Ink blueberry sky; Ceramic button; Impression plate - Papertrey Ink sunshine

I kept with the same colours but changed the emphasis, loved using the panel and that impression plate is one of my favourites. For the ribbon embellishment I folded a piece of blueberry sky ribbon over the panel and added a ceramic button I'd been hording in my stash. The button added that special touch for a special card.

Pop by the rest of the crew to see what they cooked up with Julie's card :)

paper smooches guest designer week 4

Wow, how did this happen - my last week as Paper Smooches guest designer :( I've had the most amazing time with Kim's wonderful stamps and I'd like to say a big thank you to Kim for giving me this opportunity.

Well from the September release the one set I haven't shown yet is this one - Perpetual Bliss. This set is filled with great icons - alarm clock, jukebox, camera, light bulb and this telephone. I love this old Bakelite phone! Now I suppose traditionally this would be black, but I guess it's no big surprise that I coloured it green!

I could just imagine someone phoning to a loved one to let them know they are missed.

Once again, thanks Kim - I've had a ball!

caseing chupa

Let me show you a card that I just loved.

This card is by the most wonderful Chupa (Iwona Palamountain). Click here for her original post. Chupa has the ability to embrace many styles and not unsurprisingly this beautiful card just reached out to my CAS loving side. I loved the colours, the way the panel is stamped in just the center, the design .... everything! So I grabed my supplies and looked to see what I had that would help me CASE this card. This is what I came up with.

I used Hero Arts background stamp dots and flowers to recreate the panel and matched it with one of my current favourite Papertrey Ink sets - happy trails. I coloured the gems with a copic to tie in the colour scheme.

I loved the card so much I played around with my stamps and came up with this one. Again using the same Hero Arts background and Papertrey Ink's happy trails but pared with There She Goes's sentimental birthday for the greeting.

Next up, I tried changing the colour scheme.

I must admit though that the original colours appeal to me most :)

Here's the three cards together.

Thank you Chupa for always providing such amazing inspiration!

Well that's all from me today. My sister is visiting at the moment, so I'm taking time to spend with her - lots of shopping on the agenda when we get together!

24 September 2011

Simply enter the code tsgbirthday3 in the box located in your TSG shopping cart and you will receive 15% off of your entire order all month long no matter how many times you order!!

SECOND: All month long (except for release week) we will be hosting fun challenges on the TSG blog Monday-Friday with prizes being given for each of those challenge days! Participate all month long to increase your odds of winning :)

THIRD: The Trendsetters will also be taking turns on giving away mini stamp sets on their blogs. You will know who is giving away goodies by spotting this icon

on their TSG blog post. All you need to do is leave a comment on that post and the blog owner will choose a winner using a random number generator from the post on October 1st which gives you guys more than enough time to track down all of the mini set blog posts!

Soooo, first up - have you placed an order to make the most of that 15% off? Second, joined in all the fun challenges? Third been spotting the TSG birthday icon for your chance to win mini stamp sets?Hint - look at the top of this post!!

To join in with the celebrations I thought I'd make a birthday card! And I also thought I'd make it one to fit in with this weeks challenge TSG123 which is to make a birthday card with pizzazz (rhinestones, glitter, stickles etc).

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes world's best, sentimental birthday; Ink - Versafine onyx black; Card - Stampin' Up rich razzleberry; Ribbon - Stampin' Up rich razzleberry

For this CAS card I took the flower/rosette image from the new World's Best set and stamped it several times in the corner of a white layer. I matted this with some rich razzleberry card and added a matching ribbon. A simple birthday sentiment from Sentimental Birthday and some bling to finish it off.

Are you going to pop along to the release party chat tonight? It starts at 6pm Pacific time and continues until the new sets go live at 8pm.

That's all for me for tonight. Enjoy your weekend! One last time here's that icon again!

lil' inker designs blog hop day 5

Are you ready to take a look at more fabulous new products from Lil' Inker Designs? Well lets get going then! This is the last day of sneak peaks and boy have we got a treat for you! Hopefully as part of the new release blog hop you've come from Emily's blog and if so you are right on track. If not make sure you start at the beginning at Laura's blog where you can also find out about the prizes on offer this week!

Just to give you an idea of what on offer today, here's the graphics.

Oh my cuteness! Isn't that acorn adorable! A die with co-ordinating stamps with cute faces - heaven! Here's what I came up with.
Supplies: Stamps - Lil' Inker Designs acorn sentiments; Inks - Versacolor pinecone, Archival Inks sepia; Card - Stampin' Up lucky limeade, pumpkin pie, soft suede, sahara sand; Dies - Lil' Inker Designs acorn, Spellbinders squares; twine, googly eyes

This is a 10cm square card - clean and simple, colourful, bit of twine plus a cute sentiment and perfect for a boy I thought. I added a smile from the stamp set, but masked out the eyes as I thought this guy was just perfect for a pair of mismatched googly eyes!

Next I moved on to the little leaf from the Acorn die set. I would've bought this set 100 times over just for this leaf! It's a great size for cards, cuts like a dream and has the cute perforated vein line running along it. I grabbed a stack of autumn coloured cardstock and got busy!

Supplies: Stamps - Lil' Inker Designs acorn sentiments, Papertrey Ink modern wood mats; Inks - Versacolor sand beige, pinecone; Card - Stampin' Up lucky limeade, pumpkin pie, soft suede, cherry cobbler, summer sun, early espresso, sahara sand, Papertrey Ink rustic white; Dies - Lil' Inker acorns, Papertrey Ink love lives here

Here's a closer look at those leaves.

case study challenge 58

This is my second post today, so please scroll down to see my There She Goes project.

Are you ready for another CASE study with the fabulous Julie Lacey as our muse? I certainly know I am! Here's this weeks inspiration.

A classic colour combo of red and brown, die cut focal point and sentiment strip, ribbon, twine, text paper ..... I used all of these pieces of inspiration from Julie's card and then put my own CAS twist on it.

Supplies: Stamps - Stampin' Up clearly for you; Ink - Stampin' Up early espresso; Card - Stampin' Up early espresso, Papertrey Ink rustic white; Paper - Making Memories ledger paper pad; Ribbon - Stampin' Up real red; Punch - Stampin' Up word window; Dies - Spellbinders squares; Twine - Stampin' Up

I used text paper as my main layer then added a bold stripe ribbon, scrunched up with a bit of twine, a square focal point panel with a layered sentiment panel on top and of course Julie's signature layered mat.

Pop by the rest of the Design Team to see more projects inspired by Julie.

Ok lets get things rolling!

Co-illustrated by Melyssa Connolly and Jessica Knutsen, World's Best is the first in a new series of fun stamps and dies! Yep, you read thar right - dies too!

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes world's best; Card - Stampin' Up crumb cake;  Paper - Martha Stewart travel mat pad, Bella Blvd mid term; Dies - There She Goes world's best, Papertrey Ink tag sale 3; Clip - Stampin' Up; Brads: Copics - R24, R29

This set is packed with rosettes, flowers, ribbons, circles, great sentiments and well just everything! And the dies fit the co-ordingating images perfectly.

Here's a little peek at the rosette.

As a child I remember the first prize rosette as being red, so for me this rosette could be no other colour! Layered up with a congratulatory sentiment I can see me giving this to one of my boys :)

paper smooches guest designer week 3

This is my third post for today - please scroll down for my There She Goes and Lil' Inker Designs projects.

Wednesdays in September mean that I get to share more Paper Smooches goodness with you! I can't believe that this is my third week as Paper Smooches Guest Designer. I'm having such fun with these stamps!

My idea for today stemmed from the piles of pumpkins for sale at Halloween. I don't know of any pumpkin patches in the UK but the pumpkins are always piled up at the supermarkets. I got to thinking that the pumpkin that gets picked must be thrilled to be taken home in tiny hands to be included in the Halloween festivities!

This is pretty much a one layer card apart from the purple mat. I created a couple of masks for the cute little pumpkin from Halloweenies and then started piling them up! I used another mask for the spiders webs along the top. I love that spider overseeing the proceedings! The sentiment is from Vegtastic.
Wow, so I suppose that next Wednesday is my last week as Guest Designer. Hope to see you then!

Supplies:

Stamps - Paper Smooches Halloweenies
Inks - Memento tuxedo black
Card - Stampin' Up elegant eggplant
Copics - 0, YG25, YG93, Y21, Y32

lil' inker designs blog hop day 3

This is my second post for today - please scroll down to see my There She Goes projects.

Have you seen the fabulous creations using Lil' Inker Designs new releases? If not, get yourself over to Laura's blog for the start of the new release hops. Each day this week various members of the Design Team are participating in a new release blog hop to show you some sneaks of the new products. Today I'm hoping you have joined me from Laura's  blog and it's the turn of the mini pinwheel die to shine in the spotlight! Here's the graphic.

If you've seen some of the fun had with the pinwheel die then you will know that this mini version is sure to be a big hit! For my project today I dressed up a little silver gift card holder for Christmas.

Dies - Lil' Inker Designs mini pinwheel, Papertrey Ink seed packet; Vellum - Papertrey Ink; Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder; Divine twine; Snowflake punch; Brad; Doily

I die cut 7 spokes of the pinwheel out of vellum and then popped them through an embossing folder. A punched and glittered snowflake and crystal brad finished off this winter beauty. I loosely attached a semicircle of doily and wrapped some red twine around before popping the pinwheel on top.

I love the translucency of using vellum on this project. The mixture of colours and textures gives a lovely wintery feeling and there's nothing like having a Christmas project done!

Now please hop on to Sarah's blog for more wheelie inspiration! However, if you get lost on the way, here's a list of all the places to visit today.

Debby - that's me, you're here now!

Before you go please leave a little comment here and on any of the other blogs you visit today - there are $10 shopping sprees to be had! You have until Sunday 25th September to complete the hop and winners will be announced on the Lil' Inker Shop Blog on Monday 26th September.

Right, lets get cracking shall we!

Today we get to share with you another set illustrated by Torico - Bugs & Hisses. Oh my halloween goodness! Trees, spiders, pumpkins, spooky houses .... the list goes on. This set is jam packed! When I saw the set, I immediately knew I wanted to make a card with the string of spiders and webs.

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes bugs & hisses, hauntingly delightful; Inks - Versacolor lime; Card - Stampin' Up pumpkin pie; Twine - The Twinery lilac
Are these spiders scary or just too cute! I masked off one of the spider's and then strung his big brother (another stamp from the set) from some twine. A simple sentiment from Hauntingly Delightful stamped in lime green just finished it off.

Talking of Hauntingly Delightful - this set combines beautifully with the new Bugs & Hisses. In fact I used a combination of stamps from the two sets for my next card. However, before we take a look, I have some huge news - There She Goes is going to be stocking co-ordinating dies! Oh I'm in heaven! So without further ado, meet the Spider Web die!

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes bugs & hisses, hauntingly delightful; Card - Stampin' Up elegant eggplant; Dies - There She Goes spiders web, Lil Inker Designs rainbows & clouds, Papertrey Ink double ended banner; Twine - The Twinery lilac; Copics - 0, V12, V15, T0, T1, C5, C7, 100, BG000, R29

Aren't those webs adorable! Well as adorable as cute, little spider's webs can be that's for sure! The die has 5 webs in total, but I wanted to use just three to create my spider's web banner. Here, take a closer look.

The detail is amazing! On the card the spooky house and fence are from Bugs & Hisses and dracula and the sentiment are from Hauntingly Delightful.

Wow, well I think that wraps it up for me today. Pop back tomorrow for our final day of peeks before the release but for now hop along to Holly's blog

lil' inker designs blog hop day 2

This is my second post today - please scroll down for my There She Goes projects.

Wohoo, it's finally time for me to share one of the exciting new products being released by Lil' Inker Designs! Hopefully as part of the new release blog hop you've come from Julie's blog and if so you are right on track. If not make sure you start at the beginning at Laura's blog where you can also find out about the prizes on offer this week!

Well, how about I show you a little graphic for Lil' Inker Designs new die entitled "fringe flower".

This die is so much fun! First up let's have a look at what this die can do. Isn't this flower just gorgeous!

If you've been visiting me for a while you'll know that I do love to fancy up my gifts! And this die is perfect for the job. The die is 8.5 inches wide and 1.25 inches high with little cut lines all along it's width. I use a cuttlebug for my die cutting - love my little bug! I cut my piece from Papertrey Ink's  harvest gold felt - a lovely thick felt which produces a full bloom. I laid my die on the felt and roughly cut  around it. Then I used some scortape to adhere the die to the felt - don't want that felt moving about! I popped my felt/die sandwich on my cutting plates. As the die is 8.5 inches it doesn't cut in one go through the cuttlebug but it's so easy - I just ran the felt/die through my bug with as much between the plates as possible, then I simply pushed my felt/die sandwich in a bit further and ran it through again to cut the remaining end of the die.

At this point you simply fold the felt in half along the short edges - I used a piece of tape to hold it in place and then start rolling this beauty up from one end all the way along. Again I used a piece of tape to keep it in place as I rolled. Finally from the underside of the flower I pushed the center up slightly to give the petals room to fluff out. Click here for a tutorial that Laura put together.

Now it's time for you to hop along and next on the list is Teresa's blog! However, if you get lost on the way, here's a list of all the places to visit today.

there she goes sneek peeks day 1

Today is THE day - my first new release as a trendsetter for There She Goes!! You are in for such a treat with this release! Now I'm hoping you have arrived here from Corinna's blog, but if you want to join in the fun, or get lost on the way, please refer to the There She Goes blog for the complete Blog Hop list and details. Oh and would you like the chance to win these sets? One random commenter from a per-determined Trendsetter's Blog Hop Challenge post will be selected to win.  You’ll have till Saturday's Release Party to comment on as many Trendsetter Blog Hop Challenge posts as possible.  The more Trendsetter posts you comment on during each Blog Hop Challenge, the greater your chances of winning!  Be sure to check the TSGBlog Saturday evening after 9:00pm EST to see if you're a winner!

To start the ball rolling we have two new sets to show you today.

First up is an addition to Di's build a scene stamp sets. Entitled "Follow Your Bliss" this set is filled with stone walls, wild flowers and some of the cutest critters! When I first laid eyes on this set my heart was won over by this little rabbit.

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes follow your bliss; Ink - Versamark; Card - Stampin' Up crumb cake, blushing bride; White embossing powder; Copics 0, T0, T1, R20; Die - Spellbinders circles

I CASEd this design from my CAS buddy Cristina - I loved the idea of the rabbit peeping over the wall as viewed from the window in the kraft mat. There's lots of layering and dimensional tape in this card. The rabbit is cut out and popped up and the wall is popped up higher and then the kraft layer is popped up even higher!

Don't you just love this little guy! As I needed a birthday card I paired my rabbit with a sentiment from sentimental birthday.

Next up is a follow on set from a hugely popular previous release. Today's set entitled Bucket of Love Holiday Additions is not unsurprisingly a follow on to Bucket of Love!

Torico has done an amazing job illustrating this autumn and Christmas themed set. I chose to work with one of the smaller Christmas images to make a tag for a sweet little box.

And you can't have a gift box without a matching card!

This Spellbinders die reminded me of the shape of the Christmas baubles I have that have been passed down from generation to generation. They are some of my most treasured possessions and each year I'm flooded with childhood memories as I get them out of the box for my children to hang on the tree. Anyway, dragging myself back from my memories to today, I added the little pine bough along with a sentiment from the set and strung the die cut from a piece of twine to represent my Christmas bauble. Here's the card and box together.

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes bucket of love holiday additions; Card - Stampin' Up cherry cobbler; Paper - My Mind's Eye i believe; Dies - Spellbinders square bracket edge box, labels 6; Twine - Stampin' Up; Buttons - Papertrey Ink simply chartreuse; Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder; Ribbon; Copics YG93, E55, E57, R24, R29

Oh and it feels sooooo good to have a little Christmas project under my belt!

Now it's time for your next stop on the hop - Holly's blog.

 Enjoy your day!
